Children’s Resource Library

Visit one of our Children’s Resource Libraries in Burnsville and Newland to browse our children’s books, toys, and learning kits! Materials are available for checkout by early childhood educators and the community at no cost. We also have a hot laminator and a full die cut system for teachers and families to create engaging learning materials.

Blue Ridge Healthy Families

Blue Ridge Healthy Families provides intensive home-visiting service for families with newborns designed to increase protective factors and promote healthy childhood outcomes. To learn more call (828) 682-0047 or (828) 682-5091.

Family Connects Northwest

Family Connects is a universal, evidence-based nurse home visiting program. Every family with a newborn living in Ashe, Avery, and Watuaga counties qualifies for a home visit with a registered nurse at no cost to you. Visit Family Connects Northwest  for more information. 

Family Matters

We are committed to empowering the families in our community by providing resources and education that preserve, enhance, and strengthen relationships. Our counties are fortunate to have many agencies that offer classes that can support you in raising a happy, healthy child. All of these programs are open to the public at little or no cost, and most offer snacks or a meal, as well as childcare for the duration of each program session.
